The 14 self-contained villas at the Wanaka Retirement Village are built mainly of Ōamaru Natural Stone. Dunedin architect Sam Smith of Samuel Smith Architects Ltd, in keeping with neighbouring architecture, used clever accents of cedar to create a warm and welcoming feel to the village. Breen Construction Company completed the building project in 2017.
Sue Anderson says: “Being responsible for the sale of the villas, I can tell you, the Ōamaru Natural Stone of our villas sets us apart from other retirement villages. People see the natural stone and just love the villas”.
